Objects, Aspects, Orb

In the AxWap Astrology app, the term object includes planets (including the Sun and Moon), hypothetical and fictitious planets, cusps of astrological houses, stars, and fixed points, in accordance with generally accepted astrological practice.

Aspect is the angular distance between two zodiac objects. Only fixed and named aspects are used; for example, a trine aspect between two zodiac objects has an angle of 120°.

Orb is the angular deviation between two zodiac objects before an exact aspect occurs. For example, if the angular distance between the Sun and Moon is 119.5° or 120.5°, then in both cases there is a trine aspect between them with an orb of 0.5°.

There's no point in describing the characteristics of objects, aspects, and orbs in detail here, as numerous books have already been written on this topic. Let's move on to a detailed examination of how this is implemented in the AxWap Astrology app:

Open the AxWap Astrology app and follow these steps:

1. Press the Home button.

2. Press the Settings.

3. Click Objects, Aspects, Orbs - Edit.

4. The Objects table will appear.

5. When you click on the button to go to aspects, a window will appear with aspects of the selected object

Objects window

The Objects window is shown in Figure 4 above. At the top of the window is a row of switches for selecting the types of astrological charts used in the application:

• Horary - a single chart drawn for a given situation.
• Natal or Radix - a single birth chart.
• Transit - a double chart.
• Progression - a double chart.
• Direction - a double chart.
• Synastry - a double chart.

All settings are displayed, edited, and saved only for the selected astrological chart.
Objects (planets and houses) are located on the left. In the middle are three checkboxes. Learn more about them:

• Chart - If checked, this object will be displayed graphically on the selected astrological chart.
  If unchecked, it will not be displayed on the chart and aspects will not be drawn for it, even if aspects are enabled.
• Table - If checked, this object will be displayed in the table of objects (when swiping left).
• Aspects - If checked, this object will be aspected, aspects will be drawn on the astrological chart, and aspects will be displayed in the table of aspects (when swiping left). The aspects window (Figure 5) determines which aspects will be enabled.
  If unchecked, aspects will not be applied, even if they are enabled in the aspects window.

Aspects Window

The Aspects window is shown in Figure 5 above. The top portion of the window displays information about the selected astrological chart and the name of the object for which aspects are being edited. On the left is a list of aspects and controls, discussed below:

• Use checkbox - if checked, this aspect will be displayed graphically on the selected astrological chart and in the aspect table.
• Orb - the orb width in degrees for this aspect of object in the selected astrological chart.
• Coef - not in use at the time of writing this article. For future use.

Important! - Aspects are only considered if both planets involved in the aspect have the given aspect type enabled, and within the largest orb.
For example, a Sun-Moon trine in a natal chart will be considered if both planets have this aspect enabled.
If the Sun's trine width is 6 degrees and the Moon's is 4 degrees, then the aspect will be considered if the orb is 6 degrees or less.
The same rule applies when displaying aspects in dual charts: for an aspect from a transiting Moon to the natal Sun to be displayed, the required aspects must be enabled for both the natal Sun and transiting Moon.
If the transiting Moon has an orb of 1 degree, the aspect will be effective from 1 degree and below, regardless of the orb of the natal Sun.
