Good day. I have suffered from stuttering all my life. At the moment, there is no opportunity to study this issue more deeply. I notice that any stressful situation can affect my speech. Whether it is a conversation with someone, or some serious situations or news.
This problem has already become a habit for me. I am 29 years old and I even feel ashamed that I cannot pronounce exactly what I want. To save time and effort, I have to find synonyms and try to say the same thing, but in any case the meaning changes.
I won't even talk about the social problems and psychological stress that have arisen as a result of stuttering. My stuttering is a rush to tell something. That is, it occurs precisely because I do not pause in my speech.
Previously, I searched for information on the Internet on the treatment of stuttering. I even found a course that offers to get rid of it completely, although I know that it is impossible to get rid of such a problem, but you can only take it under control. The course consists of being completely silent for 3 days, and then forming speech again.
In my case, this is an almost impossible task due to work. Therefore, I started looking for more optimal options. I came across the DAF method – Delayed Auditory Feedback. The principle is as follows: artificially increasing the time between spoken speech and auditory perception. This condition affects the work of the speech centers of the brain and reduces the possibility of stuttering (as I call it – you stop stuttering).
This method forces the reader to pause and stretch the reading of words, which makes the speech clearer and calmer. In search of a program to work with this method, I came across the Speech Corrector program. I became very curious to look at this thing and try it out.
What can I say... The axSoft Speech Corrector program really works and does exactly what you expect from it. The principle is as follows: open the program, put on headphones with a microphone, set the delay time in ms and read the text. While reading, listen to your speech a little later than the pronunciation, which makes us pause.
After reading books daily for about 30 minutes, speech becomes more fluent and almost without stuttering. I set the reading delay to 60 ms, since I do not have a severe stutter, but a lighter one (I had to work very hard on myself to achieve even this result).
An interesting fact: immediately after reading using this method, normal reading without delay goes absolutely clear, as if I had never stuttered. I am completely satisfied with the program and recommend it to anyone who has a similar affliction.
