Treatment of stuttering using the respiratory system

Treatment of stuttering using the respiratory system

Hello everyone, I'm Seva, I'm 19 years old! I've been stuttering since my early years, but I decided that the time has come and I should quit it, get rid of stuttering! I'm telling you about a friend of mine who stopped stuttering, he suggested this method to me. I'll say this - guys, you have nothing to lose, you already stutter! But don't think that everything will come at once, everything happens gradually and painfully slowly. A friend told me that after studying for 3 weeks he didn't have any changes, no, of course they were there, but he expected something quick, he says that he quit everything, stopped, in short, he was stressed, he didn't know if it would help him --- it helped him, I'm a witness! After some time, he started studying again and gradually, yes, hurray! He felt that something strange was happening with his speech and he began to stutter less and less often, that he was almost done, he wouldn't stutter, but it still lasted for a very long time! But in the end I will tell you that now my friend does not stutter and has become such a chatterbox, he talks and talks without stopping )))))! And I will immediately add, there is no point in treating stuttering without good breathing, he thinks so! Therefore, at first he studied according to the method of Strelnikova A.N., and then, well, when he was stressed, he decided to try the axSoft Speech corrector program! Literally, he said so if you want to stop stuttering, be sure to do breathing exercises according to Strelnikova and combine them with exercises on the axSoft Speech corrector program and go to your goal!! ))

When using Strelnikova's breathing exercises to treat stuttering, you should set yourself 3 main tasks:

1. learn to breathe extremely deeply so that the lungs are filled to the very bottom;

2. constantly train the diaphragm, forcing it to actively participate in voice production;

3. Closely closing the vocal cords during phonation, make them as mobile and resilient as possible.

The most effective exercises for stuttering are "Pump" and "Embrace your shoulders". These exercises are recommended to be done 2 times a day before meals or 1.5 hours after them.

The "Pump" exercise, in which a noisy short inhalation is performed while bending over, allows the base of the lungs, which are poorly ventilated in stutterers, to be filled with air. As a result, extremely deep breathing "into the back," as Strelnikova called it, is developed.

In the exercise "Embrace your shoulders" at the moment of inhalation through the nose the top of the lungs narrows, and air enters the most voluminous bases of the lungs, filling those alveoli that had not previously participated in the breathing process. The vocal cords at this time make a counter movement, and the movement of embracing the shoulders during a noisy inhalation allows the cords to close more tightly.

To treat stuttering, in addition to breathing exercises, Strelnikova’s method uses voice training exercises.

Before you begin doing voice training exercises, you need to do the breathing exercises "Pump" and "Embrace your shoulders", which activate all the organs involved in breathing and speech production.

After this, you should stand up straight, place your feet slightly narrower than shoulder width apart, place your hands palms down on your stomach and, bending slightly at each sound, instantly tense your stomach, simultaneously pressing on it at the moment of bending.

"Embrace your shoulders" or bringing your hands together in front of your chest. Standing straight, raise your arms to shoulder level, bend them at the elbows one above the other (in front of your chest, just below your neck) parallel to each other. Begin rhythmically bringing your arms together, as if trying to hug yourself, while simultaneously inhaling. For example, the left hand reaches for the right shoulder, and the right hand - to the left armpit, while it is not necessary to touch the shoulders or armpits with your palms. Do not strain your muscles, do not put your hands far behind your back, do not spread them wide to the sides. "Embrace your shoulders" can be done both standing, lying down and sitting. Perform two times 96 breaths-movements, a total of two "hundreds".

Note: according to Strelnikova, "a hundred" is 96 repetitions (breaths). "A thousand" is 960 breaths. It is recommended to do 4, 8, 16 or 32 breaths without losing count, then rest for a few seconds and continue. In total, you need to do from "a hundred" to several "thousands" at a time.

"Pump"

Starting position: stand up straight, arms down. Bend slightly down towards the floor: back round (not straight), head down (looking down at the floor, do not stretch or strain your neck, arms down). Take a short noisy breath at the end of the bow ("smell the floor").

Raise yourself slightly, but do not straighten up completely - at this point, the exhalation is completely passive through the nose or mouth.

Let's repeat the exercise: bend over again and simultaneously with the bow take a short noisy breath. Then, exhaling, straighten up slightly, releasing the air through the nose or through the mouth.

Do 8 exercises in a row (bows-inhalations), then stop, rest for 3-5 seconds - and again 8 bows-inhalations.

The norm is 12 times 8 breaths. In total - 96 breaths-exhalations - Strelnikovskaya "hundred". You can also do 16 breaths-movements, then a pause of 3-5 seconds and again 16 breaths-bows. In this case, the necessary 96 breaths-movements are divided into 6 approaches with pauses between them. As a result, you will get all the same 96 breathing exercises.

Do the exercises for 15-20 minutes in the morning before breakfast and the same amount in the evening after dinner. You will notice the first results after 2-3 months. You will notice changes: breathing will become freer and your voice will become natural.

Then you need to stand up straight, legs slightly narrower than shoulder width, put the palms of both hands on the abdominal press and, bowing slightly at each sound, instantly tense the stomach during the bow, pressing on it with palms from top to bottom. This creates a "support", without which the voice production is impossible.

Monitor the simultaneity of movement and sound. Do not think about breathing, it happens automatically; Breathe only through the mouth. Head down, back round. Speak with the whole body, freeing it from excessive tension, so that each letter "reaches" the back, restoring the connections of sound production torn by the disease.

While bending forward, take a deep breath through your mouth and, without straightening up, hold your breath, counting out loud to 8. On one held deep breath, you should try to count at least 10-15 "eights".

That's it guys - good luck to everyone!
